March 2009
Several weeks ago, HeatherRidge held a President’s Meeting, which was attended by most Presidents of the individual residential associations, along with assorted leadership. The primary purpose of the meeting was to discuss policies and trends pertaining to rentals and leasing of properties in the HeatherRidge Community, but was expanded upon in a very refreshing manner. Discussions transpired between Presidents, Security, Property Managers and leaders concerning many issues, and it turned out to be an extremely informative session. Most attendees believe a meeting such as this should be held often to keep ideas and dialogue flowing in HeatherRidge.
All known requested information has been returned to the Auditors and a Final Audit should be forthcoming in the next week or so. Understandably, when auditors are changed such as we did for the 2007 audit, the initial audit by the new firm is extremely detailed and in depth, to assure a complete understanding of the Association and to render recommendations. Another audit is coming up for the 2008 accounting year, and then the HUA Board may switch to an alternating audit / review from year to year.
All insurance policies have been renewed and/or issued, and a workman’s compensation audit was completed on premises several weeks ago. Our insurance agents also conducted an on-site physical inspection of our fixed assets to make sure all is good with both the inventory list and coverage.
Proposals are coming in for the purchase of a replacement squad car for our Security Department. The type of driving done and the wear and tear on the Security cruiser is extremely high, and a replacement is obtained every two years to maximize the trade-in value and minimize non-warranty repairs.
Brad Banwart, our Landscaping Department Head, has just completed recent classes and State of Illinois Department of Agriculture licensing exams in DeKalb covering the application, safety and science behind chemical lawn treatments and spraying. Brad has passed these exams with great scores (all over 90%) and he is a true asset to HeatherRidge community. Kudos and congratulations to Brad.
Our security system wiring and equipment installation is complete for all locations, changeover will be gradual during the coming two months, and card production for the Covered Bridge area should begin March 31. After minor adjustments are made, all should be up and running for the start of pool season.
Our Maintenance Department is busily working on sump line improvements, timber walls, and outdoor lighting, amongst other items. All seasonal personnel are back in the Landscape Department, and they are working on spring clean-up and transition from snow equipment to mowers. The complete bed of our watering truck has been re-fabricated as well, and should serve us adequately for several more years.
Cathy Hawkins, our CRF Social Director is working on design and quotes for new signage at both the Gages Lake Road and Route 21 entrances. These signs will serve both the CRF and Golf activities.
Congratulations, best wishes and sincere thanks to the old and new Board members / officers as they transition some positions and members at this meeting. Remember, board members do not get any pay for their tireless and dedicated work performed for our Community and Residents.
Watch the Happenings for garage sale info and other activities around HeatherRidge.
And finally, a BIG WELCOME to a long-awaited spring !!
