On behalf of Summit Management Specialists, Inc. (SMS), I’d like to thank the HeatherRidge Umbrella Management Search Committee and Board of Directors for their vote of confidence in choosing SMS as your new Umbrella Management Company. As an employee of SMS, I will serve in the position as your on-site Community Manager. We are on site at HeatherRidge three (3) days per week, and we do practice team management so that several of us are always aware of major issues concerning the Community. Additionally, SMS’s offices are only 20 minutes away in Vernon Hills, and we can be on-site as needed. Certainly, the benefits which can be realized by having a professional management company serve your Community are enormous. Together with our resources, experience, and expertise in both large and medium-sized association management, we will strive to provide all of you with the level of service you deserve. We are honored and happy to be here, and, through dedication of service, we hope to earn your respect.

Personally, I have been a Community Manager and officer at SMS for about eight years, and I hold CMCA® (Certified Manager of Community Associations) and AMS® (Association Management Specialist) certifications, along with many additional certificates. My management philosophy includes doing what is fiduciarily proper for the Association and its residents/homeowners, based upon utilizing your governing documents as primary guidelines. Each situation in a community may have special conditions associated with it, some of which may be important. However, in Managing a Community of this size, where you have diverse personalities, many individual facet communities and their respective management companies, employees, facilities and homeowner concerns that run the gambit, adherence to rules and fairness to all are the orders of the day. I intend to serve this entire community as it should be served, in a fair yet responsible manner. We must live harmoniously in a Community where real estate appreciation abounds. I’ll always listen to anyone, and my door is always open.

Having only been here for two weeks, I have had some opportunity to meet many homeowners, committee members, and employees and staff. (and wasn’t Cinco de Mayo fun!) It’s a rare treat to have so many entities functioning so efficiently and professionally in keeping this Community running. What a great bunch of employees and volunteers we have here. Your employees know what they’re doing, do it well and must be commended. And your Boards and Committees are all volunteers, so thanks goes out to these wonderful people who dedicate themselves for the betterment of HeatherRidge, usually with little or no expressed appreciation for their time and efforts.

Starting with next month’s Happenings, I intend to bring you up to date on those issues of importance to you and the general HeatherRidge Community.
