November 2006
Last month, we have received the final proposal from a third engineering company regarding the course of action to follow as a guideline to repairing the spillway structure on the golf course. The ponds committee has met and will be presenting their recommendations to the Board. This is a repair project which should be a fairly high-priority event, though it is not an emergency at this point. Also, we expect some recommendation by the Storm Water Management Watershed Project as to availability of funds to help in this endeavor. Cleaning help (for sediment removal) is not available, but this project may be applicable to their requirements.
Settlement payment has been made by HeatherRidge Umbrella concerning the badge maker. We will hopefully have a meeting with Neighborhood representatives and Security to make sure we are all on the same page for recreation center/pool security and use control for the Spring, and that we all understand the intent and scope of this project.
The pavers have been installed from the CRF to the gazebo and look terrific. The walkway adds a touch of beauty and practicality to the landscape.
The clearing of all excess buckthorn in the Woods should be well underway and/or completed as you read this, along with the street paving near the StoneyBrook/Cambridge neighborhood. Additionally, the paving project by the maintenance building east lot is finished and looks great.
I have been reviewing different plans, along with current vendor plans, for the continuation and renewal of the health benefits for the HUA employees. Both cost and responsibility of coverage/provider shall be used as criteria for renewal selection.
Finally, I am saddened to report that Roberta Pfeiffer has resigned from her position as Director of the CRF and social activities. Roberta was a great fit for this community and was serving us all fairly and competently. It was so unfortunate that she was an unfair victim of wanton acts and politics by a small minority of people and, because of that and other reasons, felt it best to leave. The RAC Committee and our administrative personnel are working hard to replace Roberta while continuing as many functions as possible. We hope to have a replacement in place within a month or so, and hopefully that new person will be allowed to function and not face the same demise and unwarranted friction that Roberta faced. Please support the new director, once hired, and our CRF functions. They truly are a central part of the HeatherRidge Community. How wasteful of the time many must now spend to replace her and provide continuing interim functions for the Community. It would be a shame to see this as a bi-monthly occurrence!Bob Marcus, CMCA, AMS Community Manager
